After a prolonged three months-long wait, the tapes and barricades cordoning off Hong Kong’s sandy shores are finally going to be taken down.
Since late July, beaches under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department have been closed to enforce social distancing. Even after sports venues and swimming pools have reopened and plans to form a travel bubble with Singapore have been unveiled, beaches were still considered off boundaries.
Now finally, it has been announced today that beaches are allowed to reopen this Friday.
Along with the decision to reopen beaches, the government is set to ease the number of guests allowed to be seated at the same table in a restaurant from four to six while bars can have a maximum of four guests seated at the same table. Moreover, restaurants are allowed to stay open until 2am and operate at 75 per cent of their capacity.
