Hoi King Heen at Intercontinental Grand Stanford

For a refined traditional choice, Hoi King Heen is unveiling a new winter menu in celebration of the festive season. Executive Chef Leung Fai Hung will be adding six auspicious Chinese New Year dishes, including wok-fried sliced abalone and shrimps with fine vermicelli (vermicelli symbolises happiness and longevity) and an extravagant braised pomelo peel topped with half-dried oyster, rolled with broccoli leaf in abalone sauce. There are also five sweet and savoury traditional homemade puddings available for purchase, with creations such as a hazelnut chrysanthemum pudding and an egg custard glutinous pearl pudding.

Madame Ching

If you’re looking for a modern take on a Chinese family spread, Madame Ching has a Year of the Pig set menu designed for sharing on the table. It features dishes such as mapo “tofu” and pork wonton for starters, and a suckling pig and steamed butter fish for mains. Finish your feast off with a coffee ice cream!

Mott 32

Mott 32’s festive Chinese New Year Menu promises to be a delicious way to kickstart your year! It features luxurious dishes such as a traditional “lo-hei style” whole Atlantic lobster salad and Australian abalone with Mott 32’s homemade sauce ($888), pan-fried spring onion cakes with egg and sesame ($168), and braised sea cucumber with lotus seed, lily, dried shrimp, pearl barley, Yunnan ham and mushroom ($1680).

T’ang Court at The Langham

Three Michelin-starred T’ang Court is offering an exquisite selection of festive recipes, including a braised dried abalone with fish maw and beche-de-mer and a double-boiled fish maw soup with conpoy and sea whelk. If you want to celebrate the traditional way, enjoy dim sum offerings such as the golden-fried minced Yunnan ham and egg fritters, and baked pastries filled with bird’s nest and mixed seafood. T’ang Court will also be bringing back its homemade puddings, featuring a classic New Year pudding ($198), conpoy and shrimp filled taro pudding ($218), and a sweet turnip pudding ($218).

Yum Cha

Yum Cha’s locations in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay and Mong Kok make it a convenient choice for a delicious Chinese New Year! Featuring creative twists on traditional delicacies, its specially crafted dishes include a smoked salmon prosperity toss presented in a piglet shape ($388), braised mochi kinchaku ($128), and slowly braised pork knuckle with black moss and vegetable in oyster sauce ($288). Yan Toh Heen

To ring in the new lunar new year, award-winning Cantonese restaurant Yan Toh Heen has prepared not one, but two festive menus! The five-course “Fat Choy” Menu is made up of traditional delicacies, and features eats such as barbecued suckling pig, and “Buddha Jumping Over the Wall”, a double boiled abalone with fish maw, sea cucumber, mushrooms, black chicken and sea moss in soup. Executive Chef Lau Yiu Fai has also prepared an eight-course set dinner for fireworks night, including dishes such as double-boiled sea cucumber with fish maw, and braised whole abalone in oyster jus. Finish off with a sweetened red bean cream with glutinous rice dumplings while you enjoy the fireworks.

Head to one of our favourite Thai restaurants in the city, Chachawan, for three days of happy hour over the holidays. Alongside cocktails and great beer, dig into the special Chinese New Year dish Poo Zap, with stir-fried crab with chilli, pepper, salt, lemongrass, galangal and garlic.

Hutong

Northern Chinese restaurant Hutong has created three mandarin-like desserts filled with citrus-scented mousse specially for Chinese New Year. The traditional “Fruit of Fortune” life-like delights will be presented with its own miniature wishing tree! If you’re feeling festive, you can hang your own wishes, written on red lai-see, on Hutong’s own mandarin-laden wishing tree located in the restaurant. And if you’re looking for somewhere to watch the fireworks this year, Hutong has a great view of the Victoria Harbour where, alongside the celebrations, you can enjoy an 11-dish banquet.

Michelin-starred Rech by Alain Ducasse is celebrating Chinese New Year with a five-course dinner, exclusively available on Fireworks Night. Executive Chef Stéphane Gortina has prepared an extensive menu featuring a seafood platter to share with langoustine, pink shrimp, fine de claire n°2, creuse spéciale n°2, hard clams and whelks, a cookpot of black quinoa, shellfish and crustaceans, amongst more. Finish off with a special tangerine dessert, created by Pastry Chef Thomas Moulin. Check out the entire menu here.
