We were a city full of happy Hong Kongers yesterday when the new selection of restaurants for the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau 2018 was announced. It’s no secret that we’re pretty lucky when it comes to dining, but with an incredible 81 one, two and three stared restos located in Hong Kong alone, and a further 63 in Macau, we’ve never been prouder to call this city home.
Amongst those honoured in the guide, Bo Innovation, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Lung King Heen, 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo-Bombana, Sushi Shikon, T’ang Court all managed to retain their prestigious three-star rating. With Rech by Alain Ducasse, Arcane, Imperial Treasure, Yee Tung Heen and Ying Jee Club all receiving their first stars. For new comers to the Hong Kong dining scene, Reche and Ying Jee Club (which both opened earlier this year), the star rating is a huge honour – truly showing how much of a dynamic dining location Hong Kong is becoming.
Michael ELLIS, International Director in charge of the MICHELIN Guides comments, “Ten years after the introduction of the very first MICHELIN guide selection for Hong Kong Macau, we are pleased to note the vibrancy of the local culinary scene: the number of starred restaurants has been multiplied by three!”. We can only agree with him, and hope that our culinary scene continues to grow with such vibrancy in the years to come. Now, who’s up for booking a celebratory dinner this weekend?
